The Digital Technology curriculum for South Africa is piloted at some schools from 2021 and will be fully implemented by 2025. This curriculum for grade 4 to 9 includes block-based coding such as Scratch and MakeCode programming.
Learners enjoy challenges to code animations and games and to use data from the sensors of the micro:bit for projects.
There are not enough trained teachers to offer programming. I am offering a free 24 week course via Zoom online sessions to help teachers to program and how this could be done in class.

The skill to communicate is vital to explain ideas to a group, negotiate agreements and cooperate in a group.
STEM literacy includes basic arithmetic, science principles, a foundational use of computers and applications and can include coding and electronics to build circuits for projects and robots.
Robotics is an excellent way to integrate design, making, electronics, mechanics and coding. Excellent robot kits are available to use in class, or you can build your own at a fraction of the cost (and learn a lot by doing so)

Almal het praktiese kennis van wiskunde en wetenskap en rekenaargeletterd nodig en kodering en elektronika as verryking stel jou in staat om stroombane vir projekte en robotte te bou.
Om robotte te bou en beheer met kode integreer ontwerp, die maak van onderdele, elektronika, kennis van meganika en kodering in. Uitstekende robotte kan gekoop word om in die klas te gebruik, of jy kan jou eie robot self bou.
